━━ Options

Compare Your Options

A variety of options, from do-it-yourself to full production studios.

Home setup / Zoom recording

Free
Best when

Casual internal content, low-stakes audio, friends-and-family podcast.

Watch-out

No acoustic treatment. Poor audio quality. Laptop microphone unsuitable for publishable content.

Mid-market downtown self-serve studio

$75–$130/hr
Best when

National-brand downtown convenience. Downtown commute works for your schedule.

Watch-out

Member $48/hr at BuzzCast is 40% below this band. Downtown commute adds time and cost for GTA-based practices.

Premium studio with engineer

$150–$450/hr
Best when

You need engineer-mixed audio, want producer involvement, or have a high-stakes recording where the cost is worth the polish.

Watch-out

Engineer included by default at much higher cost. BuzzCast is self-serve recording with optional technical support, not engineer-mixed sessions.

Top-end full-production studio

$300–$3,750/hr
Best when

Multi-camera video, full crew, editing, distribution. Turnkey production.

Watch-out

Different category entirely. BuzzCast does not include editing, distribution, or production services.

CollabHive BuzzCast

From $48/hr member
Best when

Publishable audio without crew. 2-8 hour sessions. Self-serve confidence with optional technical support. 4K Video as add-on when needed.

Watch-out

Not appropriate if you need engineer-mixed audio. Not a full-production studio. Workspace before/after is a separate reservation.

Honest answer: if you need a full production crew with editing and distribution, BuzzCast is not the right answer. If you need publishable audio without learning audio engineering or paying for a crew, BuzzCast is built for that.

━━ FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Direct answers. What's included · what's not · how pricing scales.

Is BuzzCast only for podcasts?

No. BuzzCast works for podcasts, expert interviews, webinars, course audio, voiceovers, thought-leadership clips, client education content, and any publishable audio recording. Sessions run 2 hours, 4 hours, or 8 hours. Use the chooser at the top of this page to match your use case to a session length and price.

Can I use BuzzCast for a legal deposition or remote appearance?

Yes, as the venue. BuzzCast is a private, acoustically-treated room with professional camera and microphone equipment — suitable for a deponent, attorney, or witness to appear remotely for a deposition or other sensitive legal conversation. BuzzCast does not provide a court reporter, notary, or Certified Legal Video Specialist (CLVS) — the officer who administers the oath and the certified legal videography needed for admissibility remain the responsibility of your existing court reporting or legal videography provider. Bring your own reporter or videographer, or dial into your own legal conferencing platform; BuzzCast provides the private room and the equipment.

Is video included?

No. The base BuzzCast reservation is audio-first, using Shure SM7dB microphones and a RØDECaster Pro II production console. 4K Video Capture is available as an optional add-on for $32/hr member or $40/hr guest, for content going to YouTube, LinkedIn, or short-form video. Add it inline when you reserve.

Is an engineer included?

No. BuzzCast is self-serve by default — reserve the studio, record your session, and keep control of your content. On-site Technical Support is available as an optional add-on for $48/hr member or $60/hr guest when you want help with setup, levels, routing, or session confidence.

How does pricing scale with session length?

The longer your single session, the lower the effective per-hour rate. Hourly: $48 member / $60 guest. Half-day (4 hours) is billed at 3 — $144 member / $180 guest, about 25% off hourly. Full-day (8 hours): $252 member / $360 guest.

What is the minimum reservation?

2 hours, with no half-hour or shorter option. From there, sessions scale to a 4-hour half-day or an 8-hour full-day intensive, each billed at a lower effective per-hour rate than the 2-hour minimum. Cancel more than 24 hours before your session at no charge; under 24 hours, the full charge applies.

Do I need to be a CollabHive member?

Guests can reserve BuzzCast at the guest rate of $60/hr, $180 half-day, or $360 full-day. Members get lower per-hour pricing — $48/hr, $144 half-day, or $252 full-day — and can use Hive Credit packs. See Memberships for plan details.

Can I use workspace before or after my recording?

Yes, but workspace must be reserved separately — see Desks. It is not automatically included in your BuzzCast reservation.

What happens if equipment fails during my session?

We aim to provide working equipment for every session. Minor issues (cable swaps) are resolved on-site at no charge. Material session interruption due to equipment failure is handled with reschedule or credit per our equipment-failure policy. Contact the community manager immediately if anything stops working.

How do I get my files after recording?

You record directly to your own device or media — no cloud upload, no waiting period. BuzzCast provides the Shure SM7dB microphones, RØDECaster Pro II production console, and acoustically treated studio. You control your content and take your files with you when you leave.
